An award-winning documentary about the Gault Site is coming to PBS stations! The film is called The Stones Are Speaking, and it tells the story of the discovery, rescue, and significance of this world-changing site. We have all the details of how you can see it on your local PBS station and online – beginning on March 17.
Archaeologist Mike Collins, at great risk and personal sacrifice, saved 30 acres of looted land deep in the heart of Texas and revealed it as one of the most significant sites in the Americas. Collins and his team changed history when they found evidence of people living in Central Texas 20,000 years ago. The film is more than a simple tale of discoveries at the Gault Archaeological Site. It illustrates the power of an individual to make a difference and what people can accomplish when they come together for the greater good.
Filmmaker Olive Talley spent almost five years recording interviews, gathering video, and working to tell the history of Gault and its people — both ancient and modern. The result is a powerful documentary that explores the peopling of the Americas, the history-changing discoveries at the Gault Site, the vision and revolutionary discoveries of archaeologist Michael Collins, and the power of landowners who choose to support archaeological conservation.
