Gary Borders

Gary B. Borders worked as a writer, photographer, editor, and publisher for newspapers throughout Texas and Kansas for more than 40 years.  He won more than three dozen awards for editorials, column writing, photography and investigative reporting during his career.  Borders has written for “Texas Monthly”, “World Wildlife Magazine”, “Texas Observer” and “Airstream Life”.  Borders has published four books: “Behind and Beyond the Pine Curtain”, “A Hanging in Nacogdoches”, “The Loblolly Chronicles”, and “Yours Faithfully, J.A.”  His essay, “The Tobacco Queen of Texas”, was included in an anthology produced by the University of North Texas Press.  He and his wife, Dr. Julie Teel-Borders, live in Longview, Texas.
